DESCRIPTION:The magic that happens when a photographer captures a precise moment in a performing artist’s life – on or off stage – is on view in Jazz Greats: Classic Photographs from the Bank of America Collection. The exhibition consists of 33 photographs by 14 photographers that date from the 1920s to the 1980s. The photographs portray jazz legends such as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and celebrate the dynamic nature of the genre. This exhibition has been loaned through the Bank of America Art in our Communities® program.

DESCRIPTION:American painter\, Shawn Huckins\, recreates classical works of art with the addition of painted textiles and fabrics to showcase his appreciation of history while examining and challenging contemporary culture. Huckins’ installation will consist of 7 paintings throughout the period rooms inspired by works from Cheekwood’s permanent collection and the surrounding landscape.\n\nNow in its fourth year\, INTERVENTIONS is an arts initiative to activate the historic period rooms. The series invites renowned artists from around the globe to imagine and implement a connection between their contemporary work and the fine and decorative arts within the period rooms. INTERVENTIONS is made possible by the Sandra Schatten Foundation.
