In the Ask the Gringo column, you’ll find several suggestions for ringing in the New Year, but here’s some information about the 2024 Jack Daniel’s New Year’s Eve Live: Big Bash, the biggest event hosted and headlined by Keith Urban.

If you’ve never attended, this event takes place at the Bicentennial Park and features the famous red Music Note, which will be lowered from a 138-foot tower at midnight to welcome the New Year. The live Big Bash event attracts over 200,000 attendees, with more than half being local residents.

There are raffles, giveaways, tents to keep you warm, alcohol-free areas, and great photo opportunities. Be sure to bring clear bags no larger than 12" x 12" x 6" or non-clear purses and cases no larger than 4.5" x 6.5".

This year, there are several new activities. One of the most exciting is Aer Lingus partnering with Big Bash as they prepare to launch their first direct flight from Nashville to Dublin, debuting on April 12, 2025. Attendees are invited to visit The Aer Lingus Lounge, a fully heated space located in State Lot 4 on Sixth Avenue.

Inside, guests can enjoy festive Irish drinks, snap photos at the photo booth, and participate in exclusive giveaways. Aer Lingus will join the Big Bash stage alongside Mayor O’Connell to celebrate the Irish New Year at 6:00 p.m. Nashville time (midnight in Dublin).

As part of the festivities, Aer Lingus will give away two pairs of round-trip tickets to Dublin, including a special New Year’s Eve drawing. Attendees can register for the giveaway at The Aer Lingus Lounge until 11:00 p.m. There will also be an online drawing.

Safety comes first. If you plan to attend, remember: if you drink, don’t drive. Jack Daniel’s and Uber are offering a $10.00 coupon—be sure to use it!
