Have you ever wondered why it is important to comply with our tax obligations? If you are part of the workforce in this country, no matter if we are legal or not, this might interest you.
It is true that if we are not legal here, there is always suspicion, and why not also call it, the caution of leaving evidence that we are without a work permit.
What I have heard from certain people is that when you comply with the declaration and payment of local, state and/or federal taxes, and we have the opportunity to request a change in our immigration status, the authorities take into great consideration the fulfillment of those tax obligations.
Despite knowing that it is our responsibility to comply with the authorities for the proper functioning of government institutions, society, and the provision of public services that are essential for all members of your community, many of us prefer not to fulfill our duty to the government.
On the other hand, for many of us we consider it as a burden on our personal finances because we stop receiving income that can help us in the present to meet our basic needs, however, we forget that each year we could receive a considerable amount which is like savings.
In addition, in the future, when we retire, we will be entitled to a more dignified pension.
In addition to the above, we will say that taxes are the main source of government income.
These are also used for government programs such as public education, health services and medical care, social assistance, law enforcement, public safety and environmental protection. These services are of vital importance because they guarantee the social well-being of the population and promote equal opportunities.
They are also used for the construction of bridges, roads, public transportation systems, government facilities and parks, among others.
I recommend that you decide to pay your taxes very soon and do your part to promote the well-being of the community in which you live and move.
“Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s…”
